Lavie Maison: balneario y sauna

Step through the door on the ground floor and the first thing you feel is quiet — the kind that Chartrons keeps behind its heavy limestone façades.

Two bedrooms, one bathroom with a deep tub, and the small luxury that gives the flat its name: a jacuzzi and a private sauna. The kitchen is properly kitted for slow mornings and long dinners in.

Outside, Rue Notre-Dame runs the length of the quartier — antique dealers, natural wine bars, and on Sundays the marché des Chartrons unfurls along the quai with oysters and coffee by the river.

It suits a couple who came for the wine, or six friends who came for each other. What stays with you is the sauna at the end of a long walking day.

Sal a los muelles y la luz hace el resto: fachadas de piedra caliza pálida, el Garonne fluyendo despacio a tu derecha, un tranvía deslizándose por el Cours du Médoc. Los antiguos almacenes de vino se han convertido en anticuarios, bares de vinos naturales y tranquilos lugares para comer con terrazas que se llenan antes de las 12h30. En la rue Notre-Dame, los escaparates siguen orientados al oficio: botellas en el cristal, pizarras actualizadas a mano.

El domingo por la mañana pertenece al Marché des Chartrons a lo largo del quai. Llega antes de las 11h para degustar ostras del Bassin d'Arcachon, abiertas al momento, acompañadas de una copa de Entre-deux-Mers y una rebanada de pan de centeno. Es el tipo de ritual que los locales protegen: animado, sin prisas, y la mejor introducción a cómo come de verdad este barrio.
