Nice is compact — the Promenade des Anglais, the old town (vieux Nice), and Cimiez fit within a 45-minute walk. The two tram lines connect the rest, including the airport (15 minutes from city center for €1.50).
Cycling along the Promenade is one of the great free pleasures of the city. Vélo Bleu, the bike-share, has stations every 200 meters along the coast. For day trips to Monaco, Èze, or Antibes, the TER coastal train runs every 30 minutes — buy your ticket at the machine, not online.
Allocab handles airport transfers (€30 to central Nice). Taxis are expensive; Uber works.
We operate 4 apartamentos along the most desirable axes of the city.
The grand seafront boulevard. Long views, big windows, the sound of waves at night. Stay here if you want sunsets from your balcony and a morning walk along the sea.
The old town. Narrow streets the color of ochre, the morning flower market on Cours Saleya, the gelato at Fenocchio. Lively, photogenic, sometimes loud at night. Best for travelers who want to wake up inside the postcard.
Above the old town, Cimiez is residential, calm, and home to the Matisse Museum and the Roman ruins. Best for a peaceful stay with views over the bay — but you'll want a tram or walk to reach the beach.
Walk the entire Promenade des Anglais at golden hour — it takes 90 minutes one way and is the best free thing the city offers. Eat socca (a chickpea pancake, Nice's signature street food) at Chez Pipo, standing up, with a glass of rosé.
Visit the Matisse Museum on a Wednesday morning — small, beautiful, and rarely crowded. Take the coastal train to Èze (the village in the cliffs) for the best inland view of the coast. The exotic garden costs €6 and is worth every cent.
Set aside one day for a deeper trip: Monaco for the casino and the harbor, Antibes for the Picasso Museum, or the medieval village of Saint-Paul-de-Vence (Matisse and Chagall are buried nearby).
April–June and September–October are ideal — warm but not sweltering, calm but lively. The sea is swimmable from late May to mid-October.
July and August are very busy and very warm; book early or come at the edges. The Nice Carnival in February is a regional secret — two weeks of parades and battles of flowers, with the city otherwise quiet.
Three carefully chosen apartments in Nice — bookable on lavie.maison without commission. Self check-in 24/7, taxe de séjour included, free luggage drop from 11:15, a real équipe to call.
