Rue Montorgueil is around the corner — the old market street, where Stohrer has been baking rum babas since 1730 and the oyster bars spill onto the pavement by six. The Pompidou and the Louvre are both walkable.

Best for a couple on a long weekend, travelling light. What stays with you is coming home from dinner on Montorgueil, climbing the stairs, and stepping into a room that's actually cool.

Sal a la calle y la rue Montorgueil ya está despierta: el pescadero de Terroirs d'Avenir fregando el pavimento, el escaparate de Stohrer apilado de baba au rhum desde 1730, motoristas que se cuelan entre las terrazas de los cafés que ocupan la mitad de esta calle peatonal. Gira en sentido contrario y estás en el Sentier propiamente dicho: pasajes estrechos, mayoristas textiles sacando carritos de punto jersey, el olor a café desde un portal.

Por las mañanas, evita las colas y acércate a Terres de Café en la rue des Petits Carreaux: un flat white, un kouign-amann de la barra y un taburete junto a la ventana. Es donde el mundillo tecnológico del barrio y los últimos sastres del viejo Sentier coinciden diez minutos antes de que el día empiece de verdad.
