Push open the door and the first thing you notice is the sauna — cedar-warm, tucked into the bathroom like a small private spa in the middle of the 7th.

Forty-one square metres, but they've been used well. Two bedrooms with proper doors, a hot tub for the end of long walking days, and air conditioning for the weeks Paris forgets it's temperate. The kitchen faces the street, so expect a little life through the window.

Outside, you're on the quiet side of the Gros-Caillou. Rue Cler and its market street — cheese, flowers, oysters on Saturday morning — is a five-minute stroll, and the Champ-de-Mars sits just beyond.

It suits six: a couple with friends, or a family spread across the two rooms. What stays with you is the ritual of it — market in the morning, sauna at night, Paris in between.

Sal a la calle y la rue Cler está a tres minutos — la calle del mercado donde el pescadero monta su hielo a las 8h y la fromagerie te entrega un número incluso en agosto. La Tour Eiffel aparece en ángulos inesperados, sobre una azotea, entre dos fachadas haussmannianas, y desaparece. Matrículas diplomáticas bordean las aceras. Una mujer pasea a un perro pequeño frente a la École Militaire, sin prisa.

Para el café, el Café Central en la rue Cler — siéntate fuera, pide una noisette, observa cómo el barrio hace sus compras. Es el tipo de lugar donde el camarero te reconoce desde la segunda mañana y trae el periódico sin que se lo pidas. Más tarde, cruza hacia el Champ-de-Mars al atardecer; los vecinos traen mantas, una botella, y fingen que la torre no existe.
