Lavie Maison: Estudio Batignolles y Montmartre

Twenty square metres on the third floor, the windows open onto Rue Guy Môquet and the soft clatter of a Parisian morning — a baker pulling up his shutter, someone walking a dog past the boulangerie.

The studio works hard for its size. A sofa bed handles the night shift, the kitchen is properly equipped (stovetop, oven, microwave, wine glasses for two), and self check-in via lockbox means you arrive on your own clock.

Walk five minutes and you're at the marché de la rue des Moines, where the cheese man knows his regulars. Montmartre sits one way, the leafy Batignolles the other.

It suits a couple travelling light — a long weekend, a first trip, a return visit. What stays with you is the quartier itself: residential, unhurried, the Paris that Parisians actually live in.

Sales del edificio y estás en la cara más pueblerina del distrito 17 — aceras anchas, una floristería sacando cubos de ranúnculos, el mercado de la rue de Lévis desplegando sus toldos hacia las 9h. Les Batignolles llevan ropa de domingo toda la semana: familias en patinete, jubilados con la baguette bajo el brazo, el Square des Batignolles repleto de plátanos y conversaciones pausadas.

Pon rumbo a Le Bal Café, en la rue Forest, detrás de los antiguos terrenos ferroviarios de la Gare du Nord — una vieja sala de baile reconvertida en cafetería y librería de fotografía. Pide el flat white y los huevos pasados por agua con mouillettes, y luego déjate llevar hasta la galería de al lado. Es de esas direcciones por las que los habituales de Montmartre cruzan las vías.
