Uscite e il brusio di rue de Rivoli è già attutito dai portici — la colonnata del Palais-Royal è proprio lì, con le colonne in bianco e nero di Buren che attirano bambini e fotografi prima che i giardini si aprano per davvero. La mattina appartiene ai furgoni delle consegne su rue Saint-Honoré e al rumore del portone sul retro della Comédie-Française che scatta aperto dall'altra parte della piazza.

Per il caffè, attraversate i portici fino al Café Kitsuné nei giardini del Palais-Royal — un piccolo bancone accanto alle aiuole di rose dove ordinate un matcha o un espresso e lo bevete in piedi, osservando qualcuno leggere Le Monde su una sedia di metallo verde. Sono i dieci minuti più lenti del quartiere, e il motivo per restare da questo lato del Louvre.
