Rue Saint-Denis wakes early. Fabric rolls being unloaded, espresso machines hissing, the low murmur of the rag trade doing what it's done here for two hundred years.

Fifty square metres on the ground floor, laid out on one level. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms — one with a jacuzzi deep enough to actually sink into. Air conditioning for August, a proper kitchen for the nights you'd rather not book a table.

Sentier is Paris with its sleeves rolled up. Walk five minutes to Rue Montorgueil for oysters at Au Rocher de Cancale, or duck into Passage du Grand-Cerf for the light through its glass roof.

Works well for a family or three couples sharing — the second bathroom earns its keep by morning two. What you'll remember is the quartier: unpolished, working, and completely itself.

Per la mattina, evita le code da Stohrer e vai da Terres de Café in rue des Petits Carreaux — un filtro leggero, un kouign-amann dalla boulangerie due porte più in là, e avrai capito il ritmo del quartiere. Verso le 11 il mercato si riversa in strada e l'intero isolato inizia a scambiare prodotti, opinioni e pettegolezzi.
