Grands Boulevards métro is around the corner, the Passage Jouffroy and its old bookshops two minutes north. Walk ten and you're climbing rue des Martyrs toward Montmartre, croissant in hand.

For two people on a Paris week — a couple, a solo traveller who wants a base rather than a hotel room. What stays with you is the courtyard: stepping off the boulevard and into something quiet and very old.
