Eighteen square metres, worked hard and gently. A memory-foam bed dressed in real linens, a ceramic cooktop with everything you'd need to cook a proper dinner, a vintage Bluetooth speaker waiting for your playlist. The double-glazed windows keep Paris politely outside.

You're a few minutes from Grands Boulevards métro, and closer still to rue des Martyrs — the sloping village street that climbs toward Montmartre, lined with fromagers, a good bakery at Sébastien Gaudard, and cafés that fill by ten.

It suits two people who want a base, not a hotel — a couple on a long weekend, a solo traveller staying a week. What stays with you is la cour: silent, cobbled, entirely your own.

Uscite dalla porta e il 9° arrondissement fa la sua magia: l'ampio arco di Boulevard Haussmann alla vostra sinistra, le gallerie coperte — Jouffroy, Verdeau, Panoramas — che si aprono dai Grands Boulevards alla vostra destra, con le loro vetrate che catturano qualsiasi luce offra il mattino. Il tabacchi rimane aperto fino a tardi, i banconi del falafel vicino a rue Cadet ancora più tardi, e l'Opéra Garnier si staglia cinque minuti a sud come una torta nuziale che qualcuno ha dimenticato di tagliare.

Per il caffè, attraversate il Passage Jouffroy e cercate i tavolini all'aperto del Le Valentin — una sala da tè che serve dal 1980 e prende le sue meringhe molto sul serio. Ordinate un caffè allungato e la crostata al limone, sedetevi sotto la volta di vetro della galleria e osservate i librai aprire le loro imposte. È il tipo di mattina che fa tornare improvvisamente senso all'intero arrondissement.
