Sixth floor, and the first thing you do is push open the doors to the terrace. The rooftops of the 17e stretch out, quiet at this height.

Fifty square metres, well-arranged: two bedrooms, a sofa bed in the living room, air conditioning for the warm months. The kitchen is properly kitted out, and the terrace earns its keep with an outdoor table for long, slow dinners.

Rue Guy Môquet runs below — bakeries, a handful of cafés, and the rue des Moines market a few minutes on foot. Line 13 at the corner pulls you to Saint-Lazare in eight minutes, or up the hill toward Montmartre.

It suits a family or a group of six who want a real quartier rather than a postcard one. What stays with you is the terrace at dusk, a glass of something cold, the city humming below.

Il punto di riferimento è rue de Lévis — una via di mercato che si stacca dal boulevard des Batignolles, aperta tutti i giorni tranne il lunedì. Andateci per il pollo allo spiedo all'ora di pranzo, dorato e gocciolante su una teglia di patate che raccolgono il grasso dalle 10h.
