A studio of twelve square metres, and yet the door at the back opens onto its own small garden — a patch of Bordeaux sky, a chair, the sound of Chartrons waking up.

Inside, everything folds neatly into place: a proper kitchen with dishwasher and oven, wine glasses waiting on the shelf, the coffee machine humming before you've fully opened your eyes. Blackout curtains handle the rest.

Les Chartrons still moves at its own pace. Wander down rue Notre-Dame for the antique dealers, or aim for the Sunday marché des Chartrons along the quai — oysters, white wine, the Garonne a few metres away.

For two — or one, and a small dog, if you've mentioned it — this is a slow Bordeaux weekend. The garden is the part you'll remember.

L'équipe pije kawę w Café Napoléon na place du Marché — dwa euro, stojąc przy cynkowym barze.
