Made for a family of four or a couple travelling with a small one. What stays with you is the courtyard — coffee outside, in the middle of the 4e, and somehow nobody around.

Saia pela porta e a rue des Rosiers já está desperta — as montras de falafel ainda fechadas às 9h, mas a fachada amarela de Sacha Finkelsztajn a desferrolhar, e a fila no Miznon ainda não começou. A duas ruas dali, o Marché des Enfants Rouges range ao abrir os seus portões de ferro, e os estudantes do 4e atravessam a place du Marché-Sainte-Catherine a caminho das aulas.

O nosso ponto de referência é o Café Charlot na rue de Bretagne — não pela esplanada cheia de turistas, mas pelo balcão lá dentro onde um espresso custa 1,50€ em pé. Vá cedo, antes da vaga do brunch. Peça-o noisette e fique dez minutos; é a forma mais rápida de se sentir local numa zona que resiste aos locais.
