Rue Montorgueil is three minutes on foot — the oyster stalls, Stohrer's baba au rhum since 1730, the fromagers who know their regulars. Walk the other way and you're at Strasbourg-Saint-Denis for late dinners and natural wine.

A norte do apartamento, as ruas estreitam-se até ao verdadeiro Sentier, onde os grossistas têxteis ainda rolam araras com amostras pela rue d'Aboukir às 8h.

Para a manhã, salte a fila de turistas e vá ao Terroirs d'Avenir na rue du Nil — três lojas minúsculas (padeiro, fruteiro, peixeiro) que abastecem discretamente metade dos chefs da zona. Compre um pain des amis e coma-o a caminhar. Se preferir sentar-se, a esplanada do Café Compagnon na rue Bachaumont apanha a luz por volta das onze.
