Esci di casa e il 17e mostra il suo lato più discreto: ampi marciapiedi haussmanniani, un fleuriste che dispone secchi di peonie in rue de Lévis, la panetteria a pochi passi che già alle 7h scambia baguette per qualche moneta. L'Arc è a quindici minuti a piedi verso sud, ma quassù sono mamme che accompagnano i bambini a scuola, pensionati con cagnolini al guinzaglio e il silenzio ovattato di un quartiere che vive al proprio ritmo.

Prendi l'abitudine del marché Poncelet, il tratto pedonale che si stacca dall'avenue des Ternes dove i pescivendoli si chiamano dalle 8h e la rosticceria all'angolo fa girare i polli sopra le patate che raccolgono il grasso sotto. Ordinane uno da portare a la maison la domenica: è così che mangia il quartiere, e poi non saprai più accontentarti d'altro.
