It suits a couple on a long weekend, or one person settling in for longer (pets welcome, if you flag them first). What stays with you: the fifth-floor quiet, and coming home to it.

È più tranquillo di Montmartre vera e propria — ampi marciapiedi haussmanniani, bambini portati a scuola in cappotti di lana, il tabac all'angolo che vende biglietti del métro e tagliandi della lotteria sempre alle stesse facce.

Il punto di riferimento è il marché Poncelet, un mercato di strada dall'atmosfera coperta che si svolge quasi ogni giorno lungo rue Poncelet e rue Bayen. Venite per il pollo allo spiedo a pranzo — ordinate un demi-poulet con le patate cotte nel grasso sottostante, e mangiatelo alla maison finché è ancora caldo.
