Inside, twelve square metres do their job: a proper kitchen with oven and dishwasher, a coffee machine waiting by the kettle, wine glasses in the cupboard. The garden is where you'll actually spend the evening, dinner plates balanced on the outdoor table.

Chartrons is the antiques quarter, and Sunday mornings belong to the marché des Chartrons along quai des Chartrons — oysters, white wine before noon, the Garonne a block away. The Wine Museum sits five minutes from the door.

Built for two, with room for a well-behaved dog if you ask l'équipe first. What stays with you is the garden — the rare Bordeaux studio where breakfast happens under the sky.

I pavés sono abbastanza sconnessi da costringerti a rallentare. Una panetteria poco più in là sforna la prima infornata verso le 7, e per le 8 la fila si allunga oltre il tabacchi dove gli uomini in pensione leggono Sud Ouest al bancone.

Per un caffè che si prende sul serio, cammina fino a Books & Coffee in rue Saint-James, o per qualcosa di più antico e rituale, il Marché des Capucins una domenica mattina — chiedi una dozzina di ostriche di Arcachon e un calice di Entre-deux-Mers al banco. È così che il quartiere si sveglia come si deve.
