Built for two — a couple on a weekend, a solo traveller passing through. What stays with you is the jacuzzi, and how quiet le quartier feels once the door closes.

Saia à rua e a luz aqui bate de outra forma — aquele brilho mediterrânico baço a ricochetear nas fachadas ocres, o cheiro a socca a cozinhar algures ao fundo de uma escadaria, as motas a serpentear pelas ruelas estreitas de Vieux Nice. As portadas ficam meio cerradas até passar o pior do meio-dia. A padaria duas portas abaixo põe a fougasse aux olives à mostra pelas 7h, e pelas 8h os velhos já reclamaram as suas mesas no passeio.

Para o resto, vá a pé até Cours Saleya. O mercado das flores funciona de terça a domingo, as bancas de produtos frescos até por volta das 13h, e às segundas são os antiquários que tomam conta do espaço com as suas caixas de prata e faiança. Peça um pan-bagnat no Chez Thérésa — atum, anchova, azeite a embeber o pão até chegar ao mar.
