Built for a family, or two couples sharing a long weekend of Médoc tastings. What stays with you is the sauna at the end of the evening, when the apartment goes quiet.

Sortez sur les quais et la lumière fait le reste — façades en calcaire pâle, la Garonne qui coule lentement sur votre droite, un tram qui glisse sur le Cours du Médoc. Les anciens entrepôts viticoles se sont transformés en antiquaires, bars à vins naturels et tables du déjeuner aux terrasses qui affichent complet dès 12h30. Rue Notre-Dame, les devantures restent fidèles au commerce d'antan : bouteilles en vitrine, ardoises mises à jour à la main.

Le dimanche matin appartient au Marché des Chartrons le long du quai. Arrivez avant 11h pour les huîtres du Bassin d'Arcachon, ouvertes sur place, accompagnées d'un verre d'Entre-deux-Mers et d'une tranche de pain de seigle. C'est le genre de rituel que les habitants protègent jalousement — animé, sans hâte, et la meilleure façon de découvrir comment ce quartier mange vraiment.
