Dès la porte franchie, la rue de Bretagne donne le tempo — les scooters qui se faufilent devant le fromager, quelqu'un qui lit Libération sur le trottoir devant Le Progrès, la boulangerie du coin déjà avec trois rangs de clients à 8h. Le Marais, par ici, est plus calme qu'autour de Saint-Paul ; les immeubles penchent un peu, les cours restent cachées, et on entend parler français avant l'anglais.

Le Marché des Enfants Rouges sert de point d'ancrage, à trois minutes à pied — le plus ancien marché couvert de Paris, derrière une grille rouge au 39 rue de Bretagne. Évitez la queue du stand marocain et filez Chez Alain Miam Miam pour un sandwich comté, figues et roquette. L'équipe y déjeune le samedi.
