Sortez et la rue Cler est déjà réveillée — un poissonnier qui rince le trottoir au jet, l'odeur du poulet rôti qui s'échappe de la rôtisserie, un vieux monsieur qui achète un seul croissant et lit Le Figaro debout. La Tour Eiffel se trouve à deux rues d'ici, mais le quartier fait comme si de rien n'était, et c'est tout l'intérêt.

Pour le café, le Café Roussillon au coin de la rue de Grenelle est l'adresse — comptoir en zinc, habitués en costume avant 9h, un espresso bu debout à 1,50 €. Commandez-le serré et demandez un verre d'eau ; c'est ainsi que le quartier fait ses matinées, et personne ne s'est donné la peine de changer la chorégraphie depuis quarante ans.
