Outside, you're minutes from rue Mouffetard and its morning marché — the oyster stalls, the cheesemongers, the café tables that spill onto the cobbles before nine. The Panthéon sits at the top of the hill.

Good for a couple who wants the jacuzzi to themselves, or friends splitting the weekend between wine bars and long walks along the Seine. You'll remember the quiet of the room once the shutters close.

Tritt hinaus, und der Hang der rue Mouffetard zieht dich bergab vorbei an Käserei-Schaufenstern, Studierenden mit Stofftaschen, einem alten Mann, der an den Marktständen über Tomaten streitet – die sich gegen 8 Uhr morgens entfalten. Die Glocken von Saint-Médard schlagen die Stunde. An der Ecke gibt es einen Tabakwarenladen, zwei Türen weiter einen libanesischen Feinkosthändler und den Butterduft aus einer Bäckerei, die schon länger hier ist, als irgendjemand zurückdenken kann.

Für den Kaffee läuft man fünf Minuten zum Café de la Nouvelle Mairie an der rue des Fossés-Saint-Jacques, versteckt hinter dem Panthéon. Ein Glas Naturwein an der Zinktheke bestellen und beim Tagesgericht bleiben – Kreidetafel, keine Speisekarte, täglich dieselben Stammgäste zum Mittagessen. Genau das Lokal, das das Viertel für sich behält.
