The 15e is residential Paris with its sleeves rolled up. Walk six minutes to the Champ de Mars, or drift toward avenue de Suffren for the Wednesday morning marché and a coffee that costs what coffee should.

Two couples, a family with a crib, friends stretching a long weekend — la maison holds them all. What stays with you is the soak after a day on your feet, the Tour Eiffel humming somewhere in the dark.

Die Häuser sind Haussmann-light, die Markisen grün und burgunderrot, und der Eiffelturm taucht immer wieder auf — zwischen Dächern, am Ende einer Straße — als hätte er vergessen, dass du ihn längst gesehen hast.

Der Markt in der rue du Commerce findet mittwochs und sonntags vormittags statt, und die équipe schickt Gäste dorthin für eine Sache: ein Brathähnchen vom bretonischen Stand, später gegessen mit Brot, das von Maison Julien abgerissen wurde.
