It suits two travellers who want a real quartier rather than a postcard — somewhere to drop the bags, brew a coffee, and walk up the hill to Montmartre before the crowds arrive. The market mornings are what you'll remember.

Für den Markt geht man dienstags oder samstags die rue de Lévis hinunter — ein überdachter Straßenmarkt, der die Batignolles seit den 1840er-Jahren versorgt. Ein Brathähnchen am Stand auf halber Strecke, ein Baguette aus einer Bäckerei, die richtig duftet, und zurück in die maison zum Mittagessen.
