Nineteen square metres, worked cleverly: a high-end sofa bed that unfolds without ceremony, a proper little kitchen with oven and coffee machine, and a bathroom that feels considered rather than compact.

The rue des Moines market runs a few streets over — Tuesday to Sunday, cheese and flowers and the usual good-natured chaos. Montmartre sits fifteen minutes north on foot; Line 13 handles the rest.

Made for a couple on a long Paris weekend. What stays with you is the quiet — a residential pocket of the 17e that keeps the city at arm's length until you want it.
