Push open the gate off the street, punch the code, and you're in a 17th-century courtyard that most of Paris will never see. The studio is on the ground floor, quiet as a held breath.

Fifteen square metres, done properly: exposed beams overhead, old stones and brick, teak underfoot. A full kitchen tucks into the wall — Nespresso, dishwasher, oven — and the sofa opens to a real 140-wide mattress for two.

Arts et Métiers is around the corner. Walk five minutes and you're on rue de Bretagne, ordering natural wine at a café counter or pulling apart a rotisserie chicken from the Marché des Enfants Rouges.

It's a nest for two — a couple in Paris for a long weekend, or one traveller who wants le quartier without the noise of it. What stays with you is the courtyard: stepping back through the gate, and the city going quiet.

踏出门外，rue Vieille-du-Temple向南或向北延伸——午饭时分L'As门前已排起炸豆丸子的长队，孩子们穿过Hôtel de Rohan前的小广场嬉闹而过，八点前街角面包店飘来的黄油香气弥漫整条街。人行道狭窄，楼房微微倾斜，人人手中似乎都牵着一条小狗。

Le marché des Enfants Rouges步行五分钟即达——巴黎现存最古老的室内市场，藏在rue de Bretagne一扇红色铁门之后。周六上午前往，可以找到摩洛哥塔吉锅摊位，或是Alain Miam Miam那令人叫绝的三明治。像周围所有人一样，站着把咖啡喝完。
