Inside: twelve square metres organised with care. A proper kitchen, a coffee machine waiting for morning, fast Wi-Fi, and outdoor dining for when the weather behaves. Self-check-in by code, so arrive whenever the train spits you out.

Chartrons is the wine quarter turned slow-living quarter. Sunday means the marché des Chartrons along the quai — oysters, a glass of white, the Garonne in front of you.

It suits two, plus a small dog if you ask first. What stays with you is the garden — a rare thing in central Bordeaux, and the reason you'll linger over breakfast.

走出门外,石灰岩在这里折射出别样的光泽——那是构筑这座城市的、Bordeaux 特有的浅金色调,被某户人家门前倾泻而下的紫藤花柔化了几分。石板路足够凹凸不平,让你不自觉地放慢脚步。几步之外的面包房在早上七点左右出第一炉,到了八点,队伍已经排到了那家烟草店门口——退休的老人们正倚在吧台旁读着《Sud Ouest》。

想喝一杯认真对待自己的咖啡,可以步行至 rue Saint-James 上的 Books & Coffee;若想体验更古老、更仪式感的早晨,周日上午的 Marché des Capucins 是不二之选——在柜台点上一打 Arcachon 生蚝,配一杯 Entre-deux-Mers 白葡萄酒。这才是这片街区真正苏醒的方式。
