Guy Môquet is the 17e at its most lived-in. The street market sets up a few doors down, the boulangeries open early, and Montmartre is a fifteen-minute climb north when you want the view.

The boulangerie on rue des Dames does its second batch around 11h, the corner tabac stays lit past midnight, and the slope up toward Montmartre starts pulling at your calves before you've realised you're climbing.

Saturday morning, the marché biologique on boulevard des Batignolles takes over the central allée — one of only three organic markets in the city. Go for the rotisserie chicken from the stand near rue de Lévis, or a jar of honey from the Yvelines beekeeper who's been there since the market opened in 1989. L'équipe swears by his lavender.
