The tabac on the corner sells métro tickets and tomorrow's Le Monde to the same regulars every morning.

Make rue des Martyrs your anchor. It's the street locals send you to when you ask where they actually shop — Terra Corsa for charcuterie, Arnaud Delmontel for the baguette that won the city prize a few years back.
