The window opens onto a quiet cour intérieure — a rare exhale in the 2nd, where the streets outside hum until late.

Thirty-two square metres, done properly. A double bed tucked away from the living room, a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom, and a kitchen equipped down to the wine glasses. Air conditioning, which matters here in July.

Sentier is the old textile quartier turned something livelier. Rue Montorgueil sits two minutes away — oysters at Au Rocher de Cancale, coffee standing at the zinc, a marché that spills onto the pavement most mornings.

Built for a couple, or four friends who don't mind the sofa bed. You'll remember the walk home from dinner: Palais-Royal lit up, then the key in the door, then silence.

Step out and rue du Sentier is already awake — rolling racks of half-finished garments squeaking past, the wholesalers shouting prices in three languages, a queue at the Pakistani sandwich window before the fashion showrooms have even lifted their shutters. The pavements are narrow, the buildings lean in, and the whole quartier still smells faintly of espresso and steam-pressed cotton.

For le matin, walk five minutes to rue Montorgueil and take a table at Le Compas — a jambon-beurre, a noisette, and a view straight down the market street as the fishmongers set up their ice. It's the closest thing Paris 2e has to a village square, and by 8h it belongs to the people who actually live here.
