Ten square metres, arranged with intent. A mezzanine tucked overhead, morning light on the ground floor, and the quiet hum of a Chartrons side street just past the shutters.
Everything you need sits within arm's reach — a proper kitchen with oven and coffee machine, wine glasses in the cupboard, a small workspace by the window. Blackout curtains for late mornings. Self check-in whenever your train pulls in.
Step out and you're minutes from Rue Notre-Dame, where antique dealers keep company with natural wine bars and the Sunday marché des Chartrons spills along the quais. The tram C carries you into town in a handful of stops.
It's a studio for two, and it knows what it is — a base for a couple wandering Bordeaux on foot, dogs welcome, returning at dusk to a small room that feels entirely their own.
Step out and the first thing is the light bouncing off pale stone — the old wine-merchant façades of the Chartrons stretch north along rue Notre-Dame, shutters half-open, a delivery van idling outside an antiquaire. The pavement smells faintly of coffee and river. Sundays, the quai des Chartrons turns into a slow-moving marché along the Garonne, oysters shucked on paper plates before eleven.
For a proper morning, walk to Cafés Pfaff on rue Notre-Dame — they've been roasting since the seventies and the espresso is honest, dark, unpretentious. Order it au comptoir with a canelé from the pâtisserie two doors down. That's the quartier's rhythm: small trades, side by side, the same faces le matin.
