Step into the garden and the first thing you hear is the hiss of the plancha warming up. Stone underfoot, a slice of Bordeaux sky above, and your own private cour to yourself.
Inside, the apartment keeps things low and calm — one bedroom, single level, everything within reach. The bathroom holds a jacuzzi tub and a sauna, which is more or less the whole argument for a long weekend here.
You're in Chartrons, the old wine-merchant quartier, two minutes from the quais of the Garonne. Wander rue Notre-Dame for the antique dealers, or aim for the Sunday marché des Chartrons along the river.
It suits a couple who want to slow down, or four friends willing to share the sauna. What stays with you is the garden — wine glass in hand, plancha going, no one in earshot.
Step out and the limestone catches you first — that pale gold Bordeaux stone, scrubbed clean over the last decade, with the tramway gliding past on rails so flush to the pavement you hear it before you see it. The smell is canelé batter from somewhere down the street, and espresso from the zinc bar two doors down where men in suits read Sud Ouest standing up.
Walk to Marché des Capucins on a Saturday matin. It's loud, a little rough at the edges, and the oyster stands open early — a dozen Arcachons with a glass of Entre-deux-Mers at Chez Jean-Mi sets the tone for the rest of the weekend. The locals call it the belly of Bordeaux, and they aren't being sentimental about it.

Came to stay in Bordeaux for a conference, and this was a 7 minute walk from the venue! We loved staying here, it was super easy to maneuver, place felt safe even walking at nighttime. The area around the home was amazing, lots of great brunch and dinner places and super accessible to the city center via the tram. Home itself was perfect for what we needed, quiet and cozy with all the amenities we needed.
