Step out and it's Haussmann at its most composed — cream façades, wrought-iron balconies, the low hum of avenue des Ternes waking up. A boulangerie on rue Poncelet already has a queue by 8h, the flower stall opposite is unloading peonies, and two streets down the Arc sits at the end of the avenue like punctuation. The quartier moves briskly but never rushes you.

Le marché Poncelet is the anchor here — an open-air market street that runs Tuesday to Sunday, cheesemongers next to rôtisseries next to the oyster bar at Daguerre Marée. Pick up a rotisserie chicken and a warm baguette around noon, or stop at Alléosse for a wedge of Comté aged eighteen months. It's how the 17e actually eats.
