Light comes in from the fourth floor, the kind that makes a Tuesday morning feel like it has nowhere to be. Below, rue Guy Môquet goes about its business: bakeries, a woman walking a small dog, the clink of cups.
Thirty-five square metres, used well. A proper kitchen with oven and dishwasher, a sofa bed that takes the count to four, and the lift that matters once you've climbed Montmartre on foot.
Guy Môquet is the 17e at its most lived-in — a street market a few doors down, the métro (ligne 13) two minutes away, Montmartre a fifteen-minute walk uphill through quieter streets than the tourist route.
For a couple, or friends on a long Paris weekend who want to wake up somewhere local rather than somewhere central. Self check-in, l'équipe a message away — and that fourth-floor light, every morning.
Step outside and the 17e arrondissement reveals its quiet rhythm: the slope of rue des Dames climbing toward Montmartre, a tabac on the corner of avenue de Clichy already busy at 7h, the bakery queue spilling onto the pavement for the morning baguette. The buildings are Haussmannian but lived-in — geranium pots on wrought-iron balconies, a locksmith who's been there forty years, kids cutting through to école Saint-Marc.
For coffee, walk to Le Bal Café on impasse de la Défense — a former dance hall turned photo bookshop and canteen, where the flat white is honest and the carrot cake disappears by noon. Sundays, the marché des Batignolles takes over boulevard de Courcelles: oysters shucked on the spot, Breton butter, and a queue worth standing in.
