Morning light falls across exposed stone and half-timbered walls — remnants of the building's eighteenth-century life as a stable, later the birthplace of Publicis, the legendary French agency.
The studio is compact at 18 square metres, but the renovation is smart: a ceramic cooktop and oven, a proper dishwasher, a washer-dryer tucked into the bathroom. The foldaway bed converts to a leather sofa by day. A private courtyard keeps the city noise at arm's length.
Step out onto rue du Faubourg-Montmartre and you're between Opéra and the slopes of Montmartre, with the Grands Magasins and their rooftop terraces a short walk down Boulevard Haussmann.
This is a solo traveller's pied-à-terre or a couple's base for long days out — somewhere to sleep well, make coffee, and leave the suitcase behind.
Step out and the slope begins immediately — rue des Martyrs tilting up toward the butte, the smell of warm butter from Arnaud Delmontel before you've decided which way to turn. A florist sets out buckets on the pavement, the tabac at the corner takes its first orders of coffee, and the 9e wakes up in that particular way: half neighbourhood, half theatre wing for Montmartre upstairs.
Le matin, the lower stretch of rue des Martyrs runs as a proper market street — Sébastien Gaudard at number 22 for the éclair café, or a baba au rhum if you've earned it. Locals queue without comment; it's understood. Bring it back to the apartment, or eat it on the steps of Notre-Dame-de-Lorette and watch the quartier sort itself out.

Estelle’s apartment is exactly as described and photographed. The location is amazing. Rue du Faubourg Montmartre and Blvd Montmarte is very lively all the time, even walking back past midnight it is well lit and have people on weeknights. We felt very safe at this location at all times. The bed was comfortable, the shower was great with high pressure.

We had a great stay at Lavie Maison in the 9th district. A quick walk to lots of local restaurants and bars, and most importantly Galaries Lafayette. As with any AirBnB I will always note in my review that more than one towel should be left per guest, but that is a minuscule complaint - especially when laundry services are available. One thing to note is laundry detergent is not supplied for guests, however a grocery store is just 5 steps away.
