Twenty-two square metres on the second floor, up a narrow staircase, above a street that hums until midnight and then, suddenly, doesn't.
Inside: proper air conditioning (rare, and you'll be grateful in July), a compact kitchen that actually cooks — dishwasher, coffee machine, wine glasses at the ready — and blackout curtains that hold the morning at bay.
Step out and you're a few minutes from rue Montorgueil, where the fishmongers set up early and Stohrer has been selling baba au rhum since 1730. Strasbourg-Saint-Denis handles the métro side of things.
Best for a couple, or a solo traveller who wants Paris close enough to touch. What stays with you is the quiet of the apartment after a long day walking the 2e.
Step out and rue Montorgueil is already awake — the fishmonger hosing down the pavement outside Stohrer, a delivery guy wheeling crates past Le Rocher de Cancale, the smell of butter from L'Escargot before you've had your coffee. North of the apartment the streets narrow into Sentier proper, where textile wholesalers still roll racks of samples down rue d'Aboukir at 8h.
For le matin, skip the tourist queue and go to Terroirs d'Avenir on rue du Nil — three tiny shops (baker, greengrocer, poissonnier) that quietly supply half the neighbourhood's chefs. Grab a pain des amis and eat it walking. If you want to sit, the terrace at Café Compagnon on rue Bachaumont catches the light around eleven.

Negative: Um pouco…

Despite location it was the hugest disappointment our till-now journeys. Positive: Location, close to metro station with 3 lines. Negative: The apartment looks uncleaned. The most important was bed bugs in sofa bed. Our daughter has been bite more than 40 times. At beginning we thought it was mosquitos but at the end we find some running on bed. Now it is a nightmare for her. Dirty sheets and towel in cupboard. Lack of one towel and sheet set for sofa bed. Broken window shades.

The apartment was as described, tight for 3 people but doable! We folded in the couch bed during the day. The dishwasher was small, held about 4 dishes so we washed by hand mostly. The shower drained very slow which was disappointing to have water covering your feet but had good pressure.
