The mezzanine bed sits just under the eaves, reached by a steep little staircase — the kind of Parisian trick that turns twelve square metres into a whole apartment.
Downstairs, an open kitchen with oven and dishwasher, a small dining table for two, a workspace by the window. Hotel-weight linens upstairs, wine glasses in the cupboard, self check-in whenever your train gets in.
You're in SoPi, the softer edge of Pigalle. Rue des Martyrs runs downhill from here — the fromagerie, the flower stall, KB Coffee Roasters where the neighbourhood queues on Saturday mornings.
It's a nest for a couple who want Paris close and unfiltered. You'll remember climbing the ladder to bed after a long dinner, the city still humming through the shutters.
Step out and the rue des Martyrs pitches downhill in front of you — the fromagerie window fogged from the morning, a queue already forming at Sébastien Gaudard for the kouign-amann, and up the other way the Sacré-Cœur peeking between rooftops. The tabac on the corner of rue Victor Massé stays open late; the sex shops of old Pigalle have mostly given way to natural wine bars, but the neon still flickers on Boulevard de Clichy after midnight.
Book a stool at Buvette on rue Henry Monnier — Jody Williams's tiny gastrothèque, croque-monsieur and a glass of Chinon at the zinc, elbows-in with whoever's next to you. It's the room that made the SoPi acronym stick, and it still runs the neighbourhood's rhythm from brunch to last call.

A compact but well-provisioned base for spending more time out and about in Paris than in your accommodation. The property is small, but it has everything you could need, impressively including a washing machine and a sauna. The ceiling over the bed is low and it did sometimes get a little warm and feel a little cramped, but the price and location made this a minor compromise.
