Step out onto rue des Remparts and the limestone catches whatever light Bordeaux is giving that day — pale gold in the morning, almost pink before dinner. The Marché des Grands Hommes is five minutes one way, Place Gambetta the other, and somewhere between the two you'll cross a tram line and a half-dozen wine shops with chalkboards out front.
