Step off the tram at Camille Godard and you're one hundred metres from the door. Ground floor, private entrance, keys waiting in the lockbox.
Three bedrooms sleep eight across 140cm beds, with a sofa bed for the overflow. Two shower rooms mean no queue at 9am, and the kitchen is properly kitted — oven, dishwasher, wine glasses ready. A secure parking space sits six minutes away, useful in a city that punishes drivers.
You're in Les Chartrons, the old wine-merchant quarter. The Sunday marché on the quai runs oysters and Entre-deux-Mers until early afternoon, and the CAPC contemporary art museum is a short walk south.
Built for a family or two couples travelling together — the kind of group that wants separate rooms, a dining table big enough to matter, and a neighbourhood that keeps giving after dinner. L'équipe is a message away if you need a table booked.
Step out and the first thing is the light on limestone — the low pale façades of rue Notre-Dame stretching toward the river, antiquaires setting out gilt mirrors on the pavement, a woman with a baguette crossing at the tabac. The tram hums two streets over on the Quai des Chartrons. By 8h the boulangerie on rue Rode has a small queue; by 10h the antique dealers have their doors propped open.
Sunday morning belongs to the Marché des Chartrons, along the quai under the plane trees. Come for the oysters from Arcachon shucked to order, a glass of Entre-deux-Mers at 11h, and cannelés still warm from the copper mould. L'équipe will tell you which stand does the best rillettes — it changes with the season, and with who's arguing about it that week.

We had a wonderful stay in Bordeaux and absolutely loved this place. It was easy to find, perfectly located with charming streets around, and within short walking distance to the city centre and lovely restaurants. The accommodation itself was beautiful and very comfortable. The only minor downside is that there is no air conditioning, but there was a fan in the room which helped a lot. The host was fantastic – great communication throughout and always available if we had any questions.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lavie Maison . We were 8 so having the 2 showers was perfect . The description of the place was accurate. Location was amazing , a lovely area plus walking distance to most of our destinations. Our host Jacques was very responsive and friendly. We were also offered recommendations of the area and given clear instructions for everything . The apartment was very well equipped with everything we needed . Very good value for money .
